It’s not just me: seems like everyone I know has been dealing with a whole lot of CRAZY the past few months. Sometimes it feels like we’re playing Whack-a-Mole, swatting down one problem as another annoyance rears its head. Egad!
My dear friend (and the founder of Purpose Blue), Laurie Cameron, knows me well. She insisted that now more than ever I needed to pause, center, and b-r-e-a-t-h-e. She urged me to download the Calm app, and despite initial skepticism, I gave it a try. Now I’m hooked!
I’ve never been successful at meditation, guided or self-guided. The Calm app changed all that for me. It’s made it easy for me to meditate routinely, to stay focused and relaxed during the day, and to sleep restfully at night.
I open Calm on my phone first thing in the morning. The tone is set with soothing sounds and imagery. You select from a range of meditations (I happen to love the walking meditation). The upgraded app offers Daily Calm sessions, which guide you through topics such as kindness, forgiveness, gratitude, and other positive, affirming meditations. Just before I turn in for the evening, I listen to one of the Calm sleep stories: this once-restless sleeper is getting quality shut eye these days!
When it comes to apps, I’m all about “free.” But after using Calm for a month, I decided to invest in the upgraded plan for $12.99 a month. Now I can access 7-day mini-workshops so that I can delve deeper on goals like stress management, achieving happiness, improving sleep, and honing my focus. But don’t worry (worry is SO not the point here…): you’ll get terrific meditation results just using the basis, no-charge Calm app.
