Pre-wedding jitters can leave nerves all jangly. The last thing a bride needs to worry about is her makeup! Our experienced, creative bridal coordinator Winnie Scott has wonderful tips to assure that – despite some butterflies on the inside – you will look cool, calm, collected, and RADIANT throughout your wedding festivities.
Dewy Moisturize? Oh yes we do! So often we see foundation applied before the skin is primed and ready. Before any makeup application you absolutely must use a skin moisturizer or moisturizing BB or CC primer. This will also protect your skin from day-after breakouts!!
Based on Your Eyes – Just like the base coat that sets the stage for your beautiful manicure, an eye shadow base preps your eyelids for long-lasting wear. It also prevents eye shadow from collecting in the creases of your eyelids.
No-More-Tears Mascara – Even if you aren’t the crying type, every bride needs “waterproof” mascara on her wedding day. Tender moments may spark a tear or two! Waterproof mascara will also hold its own when you let loose on the dance floor.
Brow Wow – Don’t schedule your eyebrow maintenance too close to your wedding day. Of course, you want perfect brows, but an appointment five-six days before your ceremony allows time for your brows to heal. Even if you typically don’t redden after waxing, tweezing, or threading, nervousness may make your skin extra sensitive. Trust us on this.
Don’t Pencil it in – You want to maintain a natural or defined brow that won’t melt or fade. Try using an eyebrow powder instead of a pencil. If you must use a pencil stay clear of wax-based pencil liners, which melt in hot climates.
“You may now Kiss the Bride” – You want to ensure your lips are as ready when those important words are spoken! A sugar lip scrub is your best friend in this endeavor. Make sure to apply Vaseline or a very moisturizing lip balm after you scrub and in the days approaching the wedding. While we’re on the topic, steer clear of long-lasting lipstick; it has the tendency to make your lips look dry and chapped.
Ready-Set-Spray – Our makeup artists rave about the importance of using a makeup setting spray that will hold your makeup in place for beach weddings, destination weddings, or summertime weddings. (Because “I’m melting” should only be heard in The Wizard of Oz!)
“Powder Power” – Your professionally applied wedding makeup looks gorgeous. Keep it that way with translucent powder. It will set everything in place and keep your makeup looking fresh for hours.
During your makeup trial at Andre Chreky, we’ll remind you of these tips – and many more! We will also recommend products that you can use before, during, even after your wedding day to keep you looking your beautiful bridal best!
