How do you “reset” when your day feels overwhelming? I practice yoga, meditate, or take brisk walks with our dogs. Andre gardens or goes fishing. But one thing we both enjoy is indulging in a sweet treat while escaping with a terrific book. Thanks to local entrepreneurs, authors, and sisters Frances and Ginger Park, we’re covered on that front!
The sisters were young women when the sudden death of their father turned their world upside down. Reeling from their loss, they searched for ways to keep their lives on an even keel. They decided to take the opportunity to bring one of their shared childhood dreams to life: open a chocolate shop! In 1984, Chocolate Chocolate opened in downtown Washington, DC. And the rest is chocolate history.
The sisters are also authors and co-wrote a memoir titled, “Chocolate Chocolate: The True Story of Two Sisters, Tons of Treats and the Little Shop That Could,” which sold in six countries. Their other books – ten to date – include literary novels, memoirs, and children’s books. They also write separately, and each has a book forthcoming: Frances’ memoir titled, “That Lonely Spell: Stories of Family, Friends & Love” will be published by Heliotrope Books/Fall 2021. Ginger’s Middle Grade novel titled, “The Hundred Choices Department Store” will be published by Fitzroy, a division of Regal House Publishing/Spring 2022.
Chocolate Chocolate’s Belgian chocolate monuments are especially popular during election season: choose from the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, the Washington Monument, the White House. and the Capitol Dome.
Andre and I are delighted to partner with Chocolate Chocolate during the month of November. Through November 30, use the code Chreky10 when you shop at Chocolate Chocolate – you’ll save 10% off any purchase! In addition, we have their popular Capitol Dome chocolates (milk or dark) available for purchase at the salon for $12. Buy them quickly – before I indulge in them all!
